About Boysterous
Skipper & Crew Boysterous will usually be skippered by owner Colin Hall, a Yachtmaster since 1990 and commercially endorsed, with other appropriately experienced crew.
Safety Boysterous is fully compliant with MCA Level 2 safety requirements covering the construction and equipment of the yacht and safety equipment. All charters begin with a safety briefing covering equipment and procedures at sea. The safety rules on Boysterous are designed to make sure that no-one falls overboard in the first place.
On Board ‘Comfort and good food are important parts of enjoying sailing’, says Colin Hall. ‘Even when I used to race seriously, we always fed the crew well’. Now that we’re cruising, it’s even more important!’
In harbour or at anchor, breakfast can be the full English ritual with a picnic for lunch and the main meal in the evening. Or, if we’re in port or near a beach restaurant, you can choose whether you want to eat on board or ashore. We keep a well stocked bar and good quality wines, and are happy to add any special favourites. Basically, you choose what you want to do, or ask us for a few suggestions. Sometimes, the nicest thing is just to stay put, jump off the stern and then have a Siesta.
If were doing a long offshore passage, breakfast tends to be a relay as people come and go from watches. The main meal is at lunch time as there is more time to prepare and enjoy it in daylight, with supper in the evening as people prepare for night watches. The emphasis is on tasty fresh foods, simply cooked. We do cross the Atlantic and have fresh food all the way.
A 7.5 Kw generator, high powered invertor and 220v sockets in all cabins mean that we can keep the beer and wine cool and run mains equipment at any time, including at sea. So you can bring the hair dryer, charge your iPOD and have an Espresso whenever you like. We have a satellite phone and can send and receive emails at sea.
Charterers are welcomed on board as personal guests, and well supervised children are welcome. There is no smoking below deck.
Cruising / Racing Boysterous is primarily rigged for comfortable short-handed cruising with single line reefed fully battened main sail, furling genoa, staysail, storm jib and MPS. All lines are lead aft to electric winches. Although configured for warm weather cruising, she can be raced in Oyster Weeks and other events that have a cruiser class.
